Babajide Sends Message To FA As Liverpool Are Relegated To Women's Championship

Liverpool FC Women's team have been relegated to the FA Women's Championship following the decision of the English Football Association to decide the 2019-20 Women's Super League on a basic point-per-game basis.

The WSL was suspended indefinitely in March as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the Reds were at the foot of the table before the season was suspended with eight games left to be played.

Next season, Aston Villa will replace Liverpool in the WSL, while Chelsea, who have been declared champions, and Manchester City will represent England in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Liverpool striker of Nigerian descent, Rinsola Babajide is disappointed by the FA's decision not to conclude the season and has preached for gender equality, saying that Liverpool Men's team were not crowned champions after the league was halted.

The English Premier League is preparing to resume action, with champions-in-waiting Liverpool facing Everton on June 21.

Writing on Twitter, Babajide stated : "All I'm asking for is to stay consistent with your decisions across the board for both the women's and men’s side... that’s all I’ve gotta say".

Former Watford striker Babajide recorded 12 appearances for Liverpool in the Women's Super League during the 2019-2020 season and found the net once.
