How Much Is Odion Ighalo Worth In Today's Market? Liverpool Hero Has His Say
Published: May 16, 2020Liverpool hero John Barnes believes Odion Ighalo would be worth 20 million pounds under normal circumstances considering his Premier League experience coupled with the fact that the striker has excelled since his shock move to Manchester United in the January transfer window.
However, the former England star, famous for scoring against Brazil at the Maracana in 1984, has suggested that the value of the former Nigeria international has plummeted, like most other players, because of the coronavirus crisis which has left a hole in clubs' balance sheets.
The future of Ighalo at Old Trafford has become more complex with his loan deal set to run out at the end of this month and Marcus Rashford nearing a return to full fitness ahead of the resumption of the Premier League
"When you think about Odion Ighalo, a proven goal scorer and has experience in the Premier League, then £20 million is very good value in this market," Barnes was quoted as saying by tribuna.com.
"However, if you are looking at the current situation with coronavirus and the transfer market, with a player who won't necessarily start every game, he is not worth the money.
"Under normal circumstances, £20 million is nothing for a player in the transfer market, If I look at an overall player, someone who is happy to be a squad player and will help back-up players like Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, then yes, he would be a decent signing for Manchester United."

Ighalo has roughly eighteen months left on his contract with Shanghai Shenhua and the Chinese Super League club want the 2019 AFCON top scorer to return to China upon the expiration of his loan deal with United.
