Aina Reveals Sarri Didn't Want Him At Chelsea, Portuguese Ronaldo Strongest Opponent He's Faced
Published: April 29, 2020Nigeria international Ola Aina has admitted that he was declared surplus to requirements by ex-Chelsea boss
Maurizio Sarri prior to his departure to Torino, initially on loan before the move was made permanent in the summer of 2019.
The versatile defender had wanted to continue playing in England for a Premier League club but only received concrete offers from Championship teams.
"He told me that I should go on loan, because I wouldn't play," said Aina in an Instagram conversation with

"During the transfer market I had only received offers from the Championship but I wanted to play in the Premier League.
"When Torino called me, I accepted immediately, because I would have had the opportunity to play in Serie A, in important stadiums and against top-level teams and players and above all in a team that wanted to go to the Europa League."
Since Aina's move to Italy in the 2018-2019 season, he has come up against Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo three times and he has named the Portuguese icon as his strongest opponent.
"Ronaldo is the strongest ever. We played three derby games against him, two losses and one draw. It is very difficult to play against him. But if I had to say who is a really difficult one to mark I'll answer Jeremie Boga".
This season, Aina has been named in Torino's starting line-up on seventeen occasions across all competitions and made his debut in European competitions when he came off the bench in the Europa League match vs Soligorsk in August.
