Ighalo Chooses Man Utd Great Ronaldo Over Messi; Undecided Between Lampard And Iniesta
Published: April 12, 2020Odion Ighalo has explained why he feels Manchester United great Ronaldo is a better player than Argentina and Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, who many people believe is the best footballer on the planet.
The former Nigeria international pointed out that the 35-year-old Portuguese continues to work hard despite his age and he's an inspiration to himself and to many aspiring footballers.
At first Ighalo didn't want to stick out his neck but when put on the spot he went for Ronaldo obviously because of his Manchester United connections.
Speaking to Ghanaian journalist Juliet Bawuah, the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer said : "I'll take Ronaldo over Messi because he's a hard worker. I believe in hard work.
"Messi is blessed, he is a genius of the world. He's incredible but for Ronaldo to be working hard every year, he's incredible.
"At his age Ronaldo is still hardworking, that's the mentality I have.If Ronaldo at his age is working hard, who are we not to work hard? He's a great player, he scores lots of goals too."
When asked to pick the better player between Chelsea icon Frank Lampard and Barcelona legend Andrés Iniesta, Ighalo opted to sit on the fence.
The Manchester United number 25 said : "Lampard is a goalscorer, he's not really a midfielder. Iniesta is a great player, when he touches the ball though he doesn't score much goals but he assists.
"It's a difficult one, I cannot pick. I'll rather have the two of them in my team, they are good players".
