Manchester United Sweating On The Fitness Of Key Nigerian Striker
Published: September 01, 2019Manchester United U18 coaches are sweating on the fitness of promising Nigerian striker Dillon Hoogewerf ahead of their next league match, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The former Ajax Amsterdam whizkid had to be substituted in the 24th minute in their 4-3 loss to Liverpool in the U18 Premier League on Saturday after suffering an injury.
Hoogewerf was looking lively and had come close to scoring before he was replaced by the pacy Republic of Ireland youth-teamer of Nigerian descent Deji Sotona.
The Manchester United U18 number 9 has been a key player for the side in the new season, having started each of their last three games in the league and was a non-playing substitute for the U23s when they faced West Ham United on Friday.
Hoogewerf could also miss out on representing the Netherlands U17 side in their upcoming matches against France though the squad list has not been announced by the KNVB.
England U16 captain Shola Shoretire made his full debut for Manchester United U18s in the seven-goal thriller and Sotona netted his first goal for Neil Ryan's side against Liverpool.
