The report of Arsenal's interest in Chelsea's highly-experienced defender broke out in the latter stages of the just-concluded summer transfer window, but many Chelsea fans saw it as one of the inevitable transfer rumors that often appears during the transaction period.

A day after the report, specifically on Thursday, 8th August, the Gunners completed an unexpected move for the 32-year-old centre-back, so much to  grumbles from Chelsea fans who lamented the Brazilian's departure.

One major reason why the youngster will be glad with Luiz's decision is that the Brazilian's departure will surely boost his chances of being a regular starter under Frank Lampard this season.

Fikayo Tomori was one of Frank Lampard's trusted centre-backs during their days at Derby County where he performed excellently in 44 championship games last campaign.

Despite not being a stranger to Lampard, Luiz's experience and quality posed a huge threat to the youngster's hopes of winning the manager's heart.

The aftermath effect of the deal means that the England U21 International's workload in breaking into the starting line-up has been reduced.

Meanwhile, Tomori's mission is far from over as he needs to compete with Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma, César Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger (when he returns to full fitness) for a spot at the heart of the Blues defense.
