Most Expensive Player Of Nigerian Descent In History May Rival Isaac Success At Watford
Published: July 29, 2019Isaac Success may get a new rival at Watford, with reports linking former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor with a transfer to the Vicarage Stadium outfit in the summer transfer window.
According to The Sun, Adebayor is in line for a shock return to the Premier League with West Ham, Sheffield United and Watford all keen on free transfer.
The Togo national teamer with a Nigerian background still holds the record of being the most expensive player of Nigerian descent in history following his move to Manchester City from Arsenal for a transfer fee of €29 million in July 2009.
Going by the pre-season preparations, Success is in the plans of Watford coach Javi Gracia for the upcoming season as he has taken part in all but one of the pre-season games and started against Queens Park Rangers this past weekend.
The Nigeria international is fighting a battle against Troy Deeney, Adalberto Penaranda, Stefano Okaka and Andre Gray for a starting spot in attack.
Last season, Success started 13 games in all competitions and made 22 appearances off the bench, scoring 4 goals.
