Chelsea Boss Lampard May Assess Abraham, Tomori Vs Barcelona But Another NFF Target Omitted
Published: July 16, 2019Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori have been named in Chelsea's squad for their pre-season tour of Japan.
The Europa League winners have arrived in Tokyo ahead of pre-season games against Kawasaki Frontale and Barcelona.
New Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has opted to omit another Nigeria Football Federation target, Ike Ugbo from the traveling squad, fueling speculation that the young striker may be loaned out before the close of the summer transfer window.
Ugbo was in the traveling squad to the Republic of Ireland and featured in the friendly vsĀ Bohemians but was not in the match day squad against St Patrick's Athletic FC on July 13.
England U21 stars Tomori and Abraham were handed a run-out on Saturday, starting and playing for 45 minutes each.
With Chelsea slapped with a two-window transfer ban, Lampard wants to assess the fringe players before making a decision on their future at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues face Kawasaki Frontale at the Nissan Stadium (Yokohama) on Friday, July 19, before rounding off the trip with a game against Barcelona at the Saitama Stadium 2002 on Tuesday, July 23.
