Confirmed : Two Nigerian Young Stars Sign New Southampton Contracts
Published: July 07, 2019Two Nigerian young stars Oludare Olufunwa and Nathan Tella have inked new contracts with English Premier League side Southampton.
The Saints reported via their official website on Sunday that Tella has penned a one-year contract extension, keeping him at St Mary's until June 2020.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively informed last month that versatile defender Olufunwa signed a new one-year deal until the summer of 2020 and the Saints have now confirmed that he has agreed terms on his first professional deal.
Born in Southampton, Olufunwa began last season with the U18 side, before he was promoted to the U23s, for whom he made seven appearances in the Premier League 2 Division Two, and also featured in the Premier League International Cup and FA Youth Cup.
Commenting on the new deal, he said : ''I have been here from a young age and the club have nurtured me into the player and person I am today.
"The manager has given everyone motivation, with the trust he shows in young players. It's a realistic target to make the first-team, and that's the incentive to get my head down and work hard next season.''

Tella joined Southampton from Arsenal in 2017 and has recorded 32 appearances in the league for the U23s, scoring 7 goals.
