New Contracts Signed By Two Nigerian Strikers Activated By Manchester United
Published: July 01, 2019Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that two Nigerian teenagers in the shape of Deji Sotona and Dillon Hoogewerf have inked new contracts with Premier League side Manchester United.
The two attack-minded players are among United's Academy intake for the 2019-2020 season after putting pen to paper on two-year scholarships with the Old Trafford outfit and the agreement comes into effect on Monday, July 1.
Sotona and Hoogewerf will be drafted into the U18 squad for the upcoming season.
Sotona was an U16 player last season and has already made his competitive debut for the U18s, against Newcastle United in an U18 Premier League fixture on March 16.
Hoogewerf has joined Manchester United from famous Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam.
The youngest player in history to feature in the UEFA Youth League, Shola Shoretire is not eligible to sign a scholarship until the 2020-2021 season.
Meanwhile, prolific striker Mipo Odubeko was offered a scholarship but has not signed and it is all but confirmed that he'll join a new team in the summer transfer window.
