Nigeria's Super Falcons on Wednesday defeated South Korea in their second Group A match of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France.
Izuchukwu Okosi rates the players after their 2-0 win over the Asians.
The Starters
Chiamaka Nnadozie : The goalkeeper had good communication with her defenders and made some important saves in the second half albeit almost cost her team with a gaffe that thankfully saw a Korean goal ruled out for offside. 8/10.
Chidinma Okeke : The right back had a good game which was capped by her assist for Asisat Oshoala's and Nigeria's second goal. However the 18 year-old had some nervy moments. 7/10.
Ngozi Ebere : The left back was arguably Nigeria's best player in the first half with her runs and deliveries. 8/10.
Onome Ebi : The record holder with five World Cup appearances won her aerial duels but had a dreadful clearance that almost resulted to a Korean goal in the first half. 6/10.
Osinachi Ohale : The central defender was strong in the tackles and clearances but was turned inside out with three minutes to go by Sun Yin Min. 6.5/10.
Ngozi Okobi : The midfielder won a lot of balls and when some of her break plays didn't work out she was willing to chase lost causes. 6/10.
Rita Chikwelu : She played in the defence splitting pass that culminated to an own goal scored by Kin Don Yong. She was yellow carded in the second half. 8/10.
Chinasa Uchendu : The Sporting Braga star saw her 23rd minute shot miss target by whiskers. She was positive but was substituted in the second half as her corners were not of the desired qualities. 5.5/10.
Francesca Ordega : One positive aspect of her game was the willingness to track back and help in defending. Full of runs and deceptive in her offensive push and take-ons. 6.5/10.
Desire Oparanozie : The skipper led creditably from the front. She almost touched the ball which led to an own goal. Thankfully the VAR check cleared her of Amy handball and the goal stood for a 1-0 Nigeria lead in the 29th minute. 6.5/10.
Asisat Oshoala : The Barcelona CF striker scored Nigeria's second goal with aplomb profiting from a Chidinma Okeke's wonderful pass - rounding the goalkeeper and slotting behind her. 7.5/10.
The Substitutes
Anam Imoh : Came off the bench to replace Ordega. Full of energy but didn't make much impact. 5/10.
Halimatu Ayinde : Broke plays effortlessly in the limited time she had but understandably not much time handed to her. 5/10.
Uchenna Kanu : Replaced Oshoala. The talent and positive vibes are there but perhaps needs more time. NA
