What Sturridge's Link To Leicester City Means For Iheanacho

Former Under-17 World Cup and Golden Ball winner Kelechi Iheanacho is going through a very tough time in his career following his inability to make Gernot Rohr's team to Egypt for the upcoming AFCON tournament.
The player's omission from the team was obviously and generally accepted by many Super Eagles supporters who believed he didn't do enough to merit a place in the initial 25-man list due to his performance for club and country.
Iheanacho, who was known for his goalscoring attributes under Manuel Pellegrini's watch at Manchester City, managed just two goals in 30 matches (mostly as a second-half substitute).
He saw very few minutes of action under Brendan Rodgers towards the end of the campaign but the 22-year-old forward failed to create any positive impression on the former Celtic manager's mind.
His inability to impress Rodgers has reportedly forced the manager into making a move to lure Daniel Sturridge to the King Power Stadium this summer.
Sturridge, who was recently released by Liverpool, was one of Rodgers' trusted players during his spell at Anfield and the manager is looking forward to a possible reunion.
Will Sturridge And Rodgers Proposed Reunion Affect The Nigerian Striker?
Looking at the obvious relationship between the two parties, coupled with Iheanacho's dwindled form, it won't be out of place to predict a tough 2019-20 season for the Nigerian striker.
Though Daniel Sturridge didn't have a better season than Iheanacho in terms of game-time, the England international made perfect use of the little opportunities that came his way by scoring some important goals like the late goal against Chelsea in one of the Premier League's fixtures.
Sturridge's zeal, passion and high work-rate will definitely see Rodgers pick him ahead of Iheanacho, meaning the former City striker could be forced leave the King Power Stadium in January.
Conclusion
Jamie Vardy needs an active and pacy striker as partner in the upcoming season and Leicester City won't pay any amount to get Sturridge because he's a free agent. Hence, the Foxes will do everything possible to capture him.
Iheanacho must up his game and return to his deadly form as soon as possible, else, Sturridge will push him down the pecking order.
