The 2018-19 EFL Championship season has come to an end after Sunday's rounds of matches and three clubs are officially relegated to League One.
Unfortunately, Nigeria's centre-back Semi Ajayi was relegated with Rotherham who had been mathematically relegated before losing 2-1 to Middlesbrough in the final game of the season to remain at the 22nd position.
Despite scoring seven league goals — including the club's goal of the season winner, Ajayi's performance and wonderful display all through the campaign weren't enough to help his team avoid the drop.
There are many questions running through the player's mind following Rotherham's relegation, but the most important one will be what next for him as regards to his future?
Should he decide to remain at the New York Stadium next season, the 25-year-old's chances of featuring for the Super Eagles will definitely reduce.
Considering the level of competition and many options available to Rohr, the Franco-German tactician won't want to consider a player from England's third division.
The best option for the former Arsenal youth product is to find his way out of Paul Warne's side during the summer transfer window if he want to boost his growing reputation.
More suitors will likely come for Ajayi's services should he get an opportunity to feature for Nigeria at the upcoming AFCON tournament in Egypt.
Ajayi was ever present in Paul Warne's team as he featured in every single of their 49 matches in all competitions, all from the start.
