The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria were involved in a very enthralling encounter with Guinea in one of Wednesday's U17 AFCON semifinal matches.
Unfortunately, things didn't go well for Manu Garba's boys who were defeated via penalty shootout. It ended 10-9 in favor of the highly disciplined Guinean side.
Allnigeriasoccer.com, who monitored the proceedings, comes up with three major reasons why the Nigeria's side couldn't make it to the final round of the tournament.
Eaglets' Complacency In Front Of Goal
The Eaglets inability to convert many begging chances has been their greatest problem since the first game of the tournament against Tanzania.
Surprisingly, the gaffer couldn't find a perfect solution to the ugly situation which repeated itself throughout the game.
It could have been a different story if the lively Ubani and Amoo converted many clear-cut chances that came their way.
Guinea Intimidating Physical Appearance
Yesterday's game wasn't only the first defeat to Golden Eaglets, it was equally the only game in which the team struggle to cope with opponent's physical appearance.
The Guineans were huge in stature which helped them overcome Nigeria's technical abilities and tactical approach to the game.
The young Nigerians were fouled on many occasions which played a massive part in slowing down the boys' attacking pace and tempo.
Luck Was Against The Team
Teams sometimes rely on luck to win matches and that's what the Guineans enjoyed yesterday.
Manu Garba's side would have put the game behind Guinea's reach in the second half but they were unlucky not to find the back of the net.
Nonetheless, it's not over for the Golden Eaglets yet, they still have to play against Angola in a third-place match.
