Manu Garba's lads edged Tanzania in a nine-goal thriller at the Dar Es Salam National Stadium to kick off the 2019 U-17 AFCON on Sunday.
Allnigeriasoccer.com runs the rule on the players in action thus :
The Starters
Goalkeeper
Suleiman Shaibu: Didn't look convincing and found it difficult to stop the goals from going in. A poor performance (4/10)
Defenders
David Ishaya: Dragged all over the place by the speed and pace of the Tanzanian attackers and obviously should have done better. (4.5/10)
Clement Ikenna: Couldn't get to grips with the skills of Edmund John and provided little cover for his team's defence. Picked up a yellow for his troubles. (4/10)
Shedrack Tanko: Tracking back proved a problem in the second period but he found joy pushing up through the flanks. Provided the assist for Jabaar's winner. (5/10)
Ogaga Oduko: Had little joy going up against Msanga Mabula and dropped back for most part of the second half. A below par display. (4.5/10)
Midfielders
Samson Tijani: Didn't start off on glory but gradually grew into the game. Assisted Amoo's goal. (6/10)
Olatomi Alfred Olaniyan: Opened the scoring at the opponent's den with a fine reflex goal and looked eager to join his team's attackers. Subbed by Ibrahim in the second half. (6.5/10)
Akinwumi Amoo: Good attacking display by Amoo. Put the opposition on the backfoot with his runs and passes. Assisted Ubani's first goal before scoring his side's third. (8/10)
Mayowa Abayomi: Less than stellar performance from Mayowa. Did little of note to help his team's cause.
Conceded a penalty in the second half before coming off for Fawaz.(4/10)
Strikers
Olakunle Olusegun: Put the hosts on some early pressure but saw little come off. Kept plugging off away at the opponent's defence though. (6.5/10)
Wisdom Ubani: Two well taken goals from Ubani proved efficient in getting the job done for Nigeria, one coming off a very eye-catching freekick to level up matters. (9/10)
The Substitutes
Ibrahim Jabaar: Super sub showing from Ibrahim. Made his presence felt after going on by getting on the end of a Tanko's delivery to hit the game winner. (7/10)
Abdullahi Fawaz: Added fresh legs as the game wound down. (NA)
Divine Nwachukwu : Late, late cameo (NA)
Emmanuel Chinaza
