Everton's Adedoyin, West Brom's Solanke, Man City's Nmecha & Fisayo Score In FA Youth Cup
Published: February 27, 2019Four players of Nigerian descent were on target for their respective clubs in the quarterfinals of the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday evening.
Manchester City have booked their ticket to the last four of the competition after thrashing Bournemouth 4-1 at the Vitality Stadium.
A brilliant strike from midfielder Felix Nmecha on the edge of the box gave The Citizens the lead in the 8th minute, and the score became 3-1 in the 63rd minute when Fisayo Dele-Bashiru converted Nmecha's low cross.
New Manchester City signing, goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu watched proceedings from the bench for the entirety of the game.
At The Hawthorns, West Brom earned a place in the semifinals after edging a seven-goal thriller (4-3) against Everton.
Lagos-born winger Korede Adedoyin's deflected goal in the 20th minute put the Toffees in the driving seat before the Baggies halved the deficit nine minutes before half-time.
West Brom were back on level terms thanks to former England U16 international Tomiwa Solanke who tapped home two minutes into the second half.
Four minutes later, the visitors were back in front again as Ellis Simms converted from close-range after Adedoyin’s 25-yard effort was parried by the goalkeeper.
West Brom and Manchester City will face each other in the semifinal next.
