Nigerian Winger Makes First Start For Leicester City U23s After Lengthy Injury Layoff
Published: February 22, 2019Layton Nduwku is back playing football again after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a back injury.
The
offensive all-rounder was injured in September and had spent more than
five months in the treatment room, before returning to action for the
Foxes U23 team in their 1-0 loss to Derby on February 15, a game in
which he was introduced at half-time.
Having
come through unscathed in his outing against The Rams, he was named in
the starting line-up on Thursday as Leicester City played out a 1-1 draw
with Exeter City in the Premier League Cup.
Ndukwu was in brilliant form before his spell on the sidelines, which saw him nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for August after scoring three goals in his first three games.
Against
Exeter City, the 20-year-old caused havoc in the opponents penalty area
with two dangerous corner kicks but his teammates could not bury the
chances he created.
He has trained with
Leicester City first team on several occasions and has been tipped as
the next Nigeria-eligible player to make his debut for the King Power
Stadium outfit.
