Emirates FA Cup : Wingers Iwobi, Lookman On Target For Arsenal, Everton
Published: January 05, 2019Catch up on the players of Nigerian descent that were on target in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday, January 5.
At Bloomfield Road, Arsenal booked their spot in the fourth round with a comprehensive 3-0 win against Blackpool.
Nigeria international Alex Iwobi was involved in the buildup play which resulted in the Gunners second goal, albeit in controversial circumstances, as the ball came off his hand as he ran into the penalty area.
The winger tapped home from close range in the 82nd minute to give Arsenal a 3-0 lead after substitute goalkeeper Mafoumbi had parried a shot from Aaron Ramsey.
England U19 star Bukayo Saka made his first appearance in the FA Cup when he replaced Iwobi in the 86th minute.
Everton are also through to the next round after beating John Akinde's Lincoln City 2-1 at Goodison Park.
England U21 winger Ademola Lookman opened his goalscoring account for the season in the 12th minute when he looped a header over goalkeeper Vickers.
The former Charlton Athletic youngster played the full game, Akinde was replaced with 19 minutes left on the clock.
