Alex Iwobi Reveals Who Is To Blame For Arsenal's Loss To Southampton

Super Eagles attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi has insisted that the Arsenal players should shoulder the blame for their 3-2 loss to Southampton at St. Mary's Stadium on Sunday afternoon because they failed to defend as a team.

A brace from Henrikh Mkhitaryan saw the Gunners twice draw level after Ings' pair of goals but a late winner from Charlie Austin saw the Saints secure three points.

Although Iwobi was involved in the buildup to Arsenal's first goal, the number 17 lacked the end product and missed a good chance to put the visitors in front before he subbed out in the 70th minute.

''I guess we weren't concentrating throughout the 90 minutes. We had spells where we weren't defending well as a group,'' Iwobi was quoted as saying by arsenal.com.

''It's something we have to dust ourselves down from and keep on going. We can't let our heads drop from this defeat, we just have to push on to the next match.''

Up next for Unai Emery's side, they face North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup on Wednesday, before the visit of Burnley to the Emirates next weekend.

''We have to react well, we have to keep on going. It's a bit unfortunate that there were a couple of injuries but we have to keep on going and keep on fighting throughout the season,'' added Iwobi.
