Manchester United Legend : Watford Deserved A Spot Kick After Yerry Mina Fouled Success
Published: December 10, 2018Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves on Monday night questioned the decision of referee Kevin Friend not to award a penalty to Watford late in the first half of the team's Premier League game against Everton at the Goodison Park when Nigeria's Isaac Success was fouled by Yerry Mina.
Success was bearing down at goal in the 45th minute but was brought down by the Colombian with the commentators agreeing that it deserved to be punished.
Hargreaves working as Sky Sports' studio analyst said at half time:
"Success knew he was touched. He knew it was a foul. Javi Gracia was disappointed by the decision and rightly so."
Mina who moved from Barcelona in the summer was on a yellow card and could have been sent off.
Success was also fouled by the same player in the 55th minute at the edge of the box but Watford's resultant freekick struck by former Juventus forward Roberto Pereyra could only hit the side net.
Watford would level things up from 1-0 down when Pereyra's shot was deflected in by Seamus Coleman eight minutes later.
The game currently going on is 2-1 advantage Watford after Ben Forster saved magnificently a Gylfi Sigurðsson penalty kick.
