Four League Games Super Eagles Fans Should Keep An Eye On This Weekend
Published: December 08, 2018There are many games this weekends in the topflight leagues across Europe. Allnigeriasoccer.com presents to you the four games that will likely have Nigerian interest and how they could pan out.
1. Leicester vs Tottenham (Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, Leicester City)
Super Eagles duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi are expected to be in action in today's game at the King Power Stadium against third place Tottenham Hotspur.
Iheanacho has played fourteeen Premier League games thus far and has one goal to his credit.
Wilfred Ndidi who was the top tackler in the Premier League but usurped by Nigerian born Danish U-21 international Philip Billing after the midweek fixtures unlike Iheanacho is expected to be in the starting XI.
2. Arsenal vs Huddersfield Town (Alex Iwobi, Arsenal)
Super Eagles winger cum attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi is expected to be in Unai Emery's Arsenal side that will welcome Huddersfield Town to the Emirates.
The Gunners are on a 20-match unbeaten run with Iwobi having played twelve times for his north London side in the Premier League this season.
The Hale End Academy graduate was recently criticized by his own fans who bizarrely would rather he changed clubs - despite his resurgence and fantastic form under Emery.
3. Udinese vs Atalanta (William Troost-Ekong, Udinese)
The potential battle between Atalanta's striker Duvan Zapata and Ekong will be one to keep an eye on.
4. Burnley vs Brighton (Leon Balogun, Brighton)
Barring any last gasp injury setback Leon Balogun will definitely pair Lewis Dunk in Brighton's central defence in the absence of suspended Shane Duffy.
Balogun came off the bench to replace Duffy and then scored with his first touch of the ball from a corner kick albeit he fouled Wilfried Zaha in the box to hand the Eagles a penalty.
The game will represent an opportunity for the Nigerian who has played just four Premier league games so far this season to impress head coach Chris Houghton and therefore stand a chance to play regularly for the Seagulls.
