Two clubs Chelsea and Leicester City monitored the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Libya and Nigeria in Sfax on Tuesday evening as some of their players were involved in international action ahead of the resumption of the Premier League.
The Super Eagles beat the Mediterranean Knights 3-2 with ex-Watford star Odion Ighalo opening and rounding off the scoring.
Two Chelsea loanees in the shape of Kenneth Omeruo and Ola Aina were called up for international duty this month but only the Torino defender featured, Wilfred Ndidi played the full game and Iheanacho was an unused sub.
Chelsea wrote on their official website: ''In Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, Ola Aina played the full game as Nigeria edged a five-goal thriller against Libya.
''The defender, who is on loan at Italian side Torino, started at right-back for the Super Eagles, who were 2-0 up inside 17 minutes thanks to goals from Odion Ighalo and Ahmed Musa.
''The home side hit back, however, and after reducing the deficit 10 minutes before the break, Libya drew level 16 minutes from time.
''There was still time for a further twist, though, and with just nine minutes remaining Ighalo scored his second goal of the game to win it for the visitors''.

In their review of the game, Leicester City noted that their former player Ahmed Musa, who is the first Foxes player to represent the Super Eagles, was amongst the scorers.
The Foxes stated on their official website : ''City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi also played the full 90 minutes as Nigeria defeated Libya 3-2 to go top of Africa Cup of Nations Group E.
''An Odion Ighalo brace and a strike from former Fox Ahmed Musa were enough to secure victory for the Super Eagles, who were without City’s Kelechi Iheanacho, in Tunisia.''
