FIFA's Proposed Revision Of Loan Moves Could Force Chelsea To Sell Two Super Eagles Stars
Published: September 13, 2018FIFA's plans to review the loan system may force Premier League side Chelsea to do away with the services of two Nigeria internationals in the near future.
According to German publication Bild via Football.London, restrictions could come in which limits the loaning out of players to those under the age of 21.
''Talents under the age of 21 who have been trained by their home club and have been under contract there for an extended period of time may continue to be borrowed in unlimited numbers to further their development by collecting match practice elsewhere."
The 24-year-old Kenneth Omeruo has yet to make his debut for Chelsea since joining the London club from Sunshine Stars in January 2012, spending time on loan at ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough, Kasımpaşa, Alanyaspor and Leganes.
Another Super Eagles defender Ola Aina will no longer be classed as an U21 player as from next month, meaning Chelsea have a decision to make, whether to keep him at the club on a permanent basis or sell him outright.
The right-back spent the whole of last season on loan at Hull City and has been loaned out to Torino for the remainder of the 2018-2019 campaign.
Chelsea have inserted clauses granting the Spanish and Italian clubs an option to purchase the two Nigeria internationals when their loan agreements expire at the end of this season.
