Transfer Deadline Day : Azango Joins KAA Gent; Ipswich Town's Emmanuel Loaned To Shrewsbury
Published: August 31, 2018Belgian First Division A side KAA Gent have confirmed through their official website the capture of Philip Azango Elayo from AS Trencin.
The 21-year-old left winger has penned a three-year deal, keeping him at KAA Gent until the summer of 2021.
He is the third Nigerian winger to join KAA Gent from AS Trencin in recent seasons, following in the footsteps of Moses Simon and Samuel Kalu who moved to Levante and Bordeaux respectively this summer.
Azango spent his formative years at the famous GBS Academy, which produced Simon and Kalu as well as Nigeria World Cup star Ahmed Musa.
Another 21-year-old Nigerian player, defender Josh Emmanuel, changed clubs on transfer deadline day.
The Ipswich Town right back has joined EFL League One side Shrewsbury Town on a season-long loan deal.
A former West Ham youth-teamer, Emmanuel spent last season on loan at Rotherham United and was loaned to Crawley Town for a portion of the 2015-2016 season to enable him gain first team experience.
