Young Japanese-Nigerian Striker Nets First Career Hat-Trick For J2 League Club
Published: August 26, 2018Young Japanese-Nigerian striker Ado Onaiwu recorded his first career hat-trick in an eight-goal thriller between Renofa Yamaguchi and Omiya Ardija in a J2 League clash on Sunday afternoon.
The 22-year-old netted his first goal 26 minutes into the game to open the scoring at the NACK5 Stadium Ōmiya (Saitama), and with Renofa Yamaguchi trailing 2-1, he leveled matters with his second goal in the 68th minute.
Onaiwu struck again in the 84th minute which brought the scoreline to 4-3 in favour of his team and completed his hat-trick in the process.
The Kamikawa, Saitama-born Onaiwu is now the second top scorer in the Japanese second-tier with 18 goals, one less than the leading marksman, Omiya Ardija's Genki Omae.
He has represented Japan at U19 and U23 level and was a member of the Japanese squad at the 2016 Toulon Tournament.
Onaiwu is on loan at Renofa Yamaguchi from Japanese topflight club Urawa Red Diamonds and previously played for JEF United Chiba.
