Kelechi Nwakali, Semi Ajayi React To Making Super Eagles Latest Roster
Published: August 24, 2018Kelechi Nwakali and Semi Ajayi took to social media to react to making Nigeria's squad list for the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles, the first time they have been invited to the senior national team by coach Gernot Rohr.
Whilst the Porto loanee played for the Super Eagles Team B in a post-season friendly against Atlético de Madrid in May, the Rotherham United defender was considered for a friendly against Ivory Coast in January 2015 but was not released by the Gunners because the game was not on Fifa calendar for international matches.
Nwakali and Ajayi have both played for Nigeria at U20 level and the latter was surprisingly dropped from the Flying Eagles squad to the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup despite impressing at the Toulon Tournament.
Kelechi Nwakali posted on Instagram : ''Thank God for my first super eagles call up #nationalduty #supereagles #workinginfavor''.
Semi Ajayi stated on Twitter : ''Always dreamt of representing my country at senior level. Honoured to receive my first call up for the Super Eagles today. Thank you God #SuperEagles #NationalTeam #GIG 🙏🏾🇳🇬⚽️''.
Jamilu Collins (SC Paderborn) and Samuel Kalu (Bordeaux) are the other new faces in the Super Eagles squad to face Seychelles.
