Pochettino Won't Be Scared To Hand The New Rave In Tottenham EPL Debut Vs Newcastle
Published: August 01, 2018Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that he could hand a debut to Tottenham Hotspur's new rave, Luke Amos, in their Premier League opener against Newcastle United on August 11.
Amos has won plaudits for his impressive displays in three International Champions Cup games against Roma, Barcelona and AC Milan, and with some first-teamers yet to report for pre-season training due to their participation in the World Cup, the central midfielder is in line to play competitively for Spurs.
Asked post-match if he would be worried playing Amos against Newcastle, Pochettino told reporters : ''After four years, in my fifth year, you think I'm going to be scared to play him?''.
The Argentinian added : ''Football is about energy, about desire, about respect for yourself and your teammates, being professional.
''Of course, Luke Amos is a good example. He played three games of 90 minutes. He's not so young - 21 - but maybe he doesn't have Premier League experience but his performances in the three games showed it's not a problem to put him to play.
''Maybe he's going to play ahead of some senior players. I'm more than brave and if I believe in some players I go with all the consequences.''
Amos and another young English-born Nigerian Timothy Eyoma helped goalkeepers Vorm and Gazzaniga to post a shutout in Spurs 1-0 win over AC Milan this morning, with both defensive-minded players going the distance.
