Arsenal Legend Kanu: We Are Very, Very Sad In Africa Mo Salah Is Injured
Published: June 07, 2018Arsenal hero Nwankwo Kanu says everyone in Africa is unhappy over the injury sustained by Mohamed Salah which puts his participation in doubt for the 2018 World Cup.
The African Player of the Year had to be substituted around the half-hour mark during Liverpool's 3-0 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final due to a shoulder injury, and it is believed that ailment would keep him out of action for three weeks.
''It is not good news for Africa and I believe every African, no matter where they are, we are very, very sad because we expected him to do what he did with his club Liverpool, to do the same magic for his country in the World Cup,'' Kanu explained to RT.com.
''I wish he will play and, if he does, he is still going to do what he does but I don’t know if he [misses] a couple of weeks, if he is still going to be the same type of player.
''Is he going to miss some training [sessions]? But good footballers will stay good footballers.''
Salah was the top scorer in the third round of the 2018 African World Cup qualifiers with five goals, two more than Nigeria's Victor Moses.
