Man Utd Defender Rojo Expects Messi To Do Something For Argentina Against Nigeria
Published: June 05, 2018Manchester United's Argentina defender, Marcos Rojo, has acknowledged that the two-time world champions are in a difficult group at the 2018 World Cup but is confident that the South Americans will progress to the second round.
La Albiceleste open their World Cup campaign against dark horses Iceland in Moscow on June 16 before games against Croatia and Nigeria on June 21 and June 26 respectively.
Marcos Rojo expects Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi to be a key player for Argentina at the World Cup.
''We give everything when we are wearing it and we want payback for the way things happened at the last World Cup,'' Rojo told Manchester United's official website.
''We will do everything to give our fans the possibility to celebrate winning the trophy again.''
He added : ''We've got Nigeria again. I think it’s three or four times now we’ve been drawn with Nigeria and it will be a difficult group.
''Croatia and Iceland are in there too. Hopefully, Lionel Messi will be in form and can do something for us.''
Rojo scored the winner for Argentina in their 3-2 win over Nigeria at Brazil 2014 and went the distance in the showpiece which they lost 1-0 to Germany.
