West Ham GK Of Nigerian Descent Reaping The Rewards After Leaving Chelsea
Published: April 02, 2018Former Chelsea goalkeeper of Nigerian descent Daniel Jinadu has benefited from switching clubs in the January transfer window after earning a recall to the England U16 squad for the Montaigu Tournament, which started on March 27.
In the coming weeks, West Ham are expected to confirm Jinadu as one of their new scholars ahead of the start of the 2018-2019 season.
Having started the season as the first-choice England U16 goalkeeper at an international tournament in July 2017, he was left out of the rosters for games in August plus the Florida and UEFA Development Tournaments.
Jinadu posted a shutout in England's 2-0 win over Russia in their opening game of the Montaigu Tournament.
The 16-year-old started in goal on Sunday as the Young Lions surrendered a two-goal lead in their 3-3 draw with Brazil, thus missing out on the final of the competition.
The highly-rated goalkeeper was on the radar of Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, Birmingham, West Brom and AC Milan before he agreed terms with West Ham.
He is eligible to represent the senior national teams of Nigeria, England and Republic of Ireland.
