Bournemouth Congratulate Highly-Rated Midfielder On Nigeria Debut
Published: March 30, 2018Premier League side Bournemouth have congratulated their midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh, who made his debut for the Nigeria setup across all levels on Wednesday as the Flying Eagles were beaten 2-1 by hosts Egypt.
The 18-year-old lasted 55 minutes on the pitch in his first game for the African powerhouse.
The Cherries were quick to acknowledge Ofoborh after the game in Alexandria, posting on Twitter : ''@NnamdiOfoborh4 made his @thenff U20 debut today. Congratulations, Nnamdi! 🦅🇳🇬 #SuperEagles 🇳🇬''.
While Ofoborh has committed his international future to Nigeria over England, where he was raised, the Nigeria Football Federation earlier attempted to lure Bournemouth's top prospect Jordon Ibe to the national team without success.
It should be noted that Bournemouth agreed to release Ofoborh to the Nigerian Federation at short notice because the games against Egypt were held during the international break.
He plays primarily for the Cherries U18 team but has some games under his belt for the U23s this season, having trained with the squad in Spain during pre-season in July 2017.
