Iwobi To Argentina Stars : We Will Beat You Again At World Cup
Published: February 13, 2018Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi is confident that the Super Eagles have a team that can beat Argentina at the 2018 World Cup.
In November 2017 in Krasnodar, the Hale End Academy product was the star man in Nigeria's 4-2 win over the South Americans, who were without the best player on the planet Lionel Messi.
Iwobi has argued that the Super Eagles were also missing several key players, including Victor Moses (Chelsea), Eddy Onazi (Trabzonspor), Odion Ighalo (Changchun Yatai), Elderson Echiejile (Monaco) and Moses Simon (Gent), when both teams met in Southern Russia.
''Argentina were missing their star man (Lionel) Messi, but we were also missing some of our players. We are confident we can repeat that at the World Cup,'' Iwobi told the BBC on Tuesday.
''We were unbeaten in the World Cup qualifiers and we are confident and have young talent, who want to prove themselves any time they are on the pitch.''
Iwobi scored one of the most important goals of his young career in a World Cup qualifier against Zambia on October 7, his 73rd minute winner ensured Nigeria booked her place in this summer's football festival in Russia.
