Peter Utaka To Replace Nigerian-Brazilian Striker At Vejle
Published: February 13, 2018 Vejle Boldklub sold Nigerian-Brazilian striker Dominic Uzoukwu to Beijing Enterprises in the January transfer window for a £1.53 million fee and he is set to be replaced by a Nigeria international.
According to our colleagues at bold.dk, Peter Utaka is set to be offered a contract by Vejle after convincing the coaching staff during one week of trials.
Utaka is currently clubless after three years in Japanese football, where he has played for three different clubs.
Most recently he was at FC Tokyo, where he scored eight times in 25 matches in the J.League.
Utaka himself is interested in penning a deal with Vejle, even if it means a significant reduction in his wages compared to what he earned in China and Japan.
The 34-year-old previously wore the colours of OB, scoring 52 goals in 108 appearances in the Danish Superliga.
Maasmechelen, Westerlo, Royal Antwerp, Dalian Aerbin, Beijing Guoan, Shanghai Shenxin, Shimizu S-Pulse and Sanfrecce Hiroshima are the other teams he has represented.
