Liverpool Loanee Awoniyi Bags Brace And Assist In Seven-Goal Thriller
Taiwo Awoniyi scored twice for his Belgian side, Royal Excel Mouscron in their 4-3 defeat to Standard Liege at Stade Maurice Dufrasne (Liège) in the Belgian First Division A on Sunday evening.

The Liverpool loanee pulled the visitors level after 19 minutes, sending a right-footed shot into the bottom corner, picking off a pass from Nathan De Medina after Christian Luyindama's header had put Standard Liege in front in the 8th minute.

The hosts went back in front after the intermission through Sébastien Pocognoli who struck in a left-footed effort after getting onto the end of Duje Cop's assist to make it 2-1.

The 20-year old Nigerian then took center stage from there on, setting up Dorin Rotariu five minutes after the hour mark to restore parity before completing the momentary comeback with another brilliant goal of his own, racing onto an Omar Govea's through ball before blasting into the back of the net.

Though two late goals from Mehdi Carcela and Duje Cop would eventually deny them any points from the encounter, Awoniyi has now scored six goals in 24 topflight appearances for Royal Excel this campaign.

While he was in action for the entire duration of the game and booked in the 77th minute, Uche Agbo was not utilised off the bench for Standard Liege.
