Peterborough United 1 Leicester 5: Iheanacho Nets Brace; Ndidi Opens Season Account
Published: January 27, 2018Leicester City thumped Peterborough 5-1 in their FA Cup clash at the ABAX Stadium, with Super Eagles striker helping himself to a double in a rampant first half over their third-tier opponents while Ndidi opened his account for the season.
Wilfred Ndidi was rested for a better part of the game after starting on the bench for the visitors while Iheanacho played from the off in the game.
Fousseni Diabate got the Foxes off to a flying start when he took a pass from Adrien Silva to poke home with barely seven minutes on the clock.
Iheanacho doubled the lead five minutes later, capitalising on a criminal defending from Christopher Forrester to put the game beyond The Posh.
The Nigerian would grab a double a minute shy of the half hour mark, jinking past the Peterborough centre backs before beating Bond for the second time with an excellent volley as Leicester sailed into a 3-0 lead.
Andrew Hughes pulled one back for Peterborough two minutes before the hour mark, striking first time through Ben Gamer from Steven Taylor's knockdown.
Diabate blasted in to make it two for himself in the 87th minute before Ndidi rounded off the scoring with a beauty, his first of the season for Leicester as they secured a fifth round spot in the competition.
Iheanacho went off to a resounding ovation from the visiting fans in the 80th minute while Ndidi came on for action after 64 minutes of play.
