Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool Send Scouts To Watch Derby de Lisboa
Published: January 04, 2018Representatives of Premier League clubs were among the 61,996 spectators that witnessed the Primeira Liga clash between Portuguese giants Benfica and Sporting on Wednesday, January 3.
PortuGoal1 has published the official scouts and intermediaries list, confirming that Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal scouts were at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica.
Other British clubs that monitored the Derby de Lisboa include Swansea City, Tottenham Hotspur, Sheffield Wednesday, Manchester City and West Ham.
Bayern Munich, Mainz 05, SD Eibar, Grasshopper and Juventus also sent their staff to run the rule over the Benfica and Sporting players on parade.
Gelson Martins gave Sporting a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute and the scoreboard did not change until the 90th minute when Jonas equalized from the penalty spot.
Both clubs fielded players of twelve different nationalities : Portugal, Serbia, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Croatia, France, Uruguay, Netherlands, Italy, Costa Rica, Mexico.
