Official: Chelsea Recall Nigerian Striker From Loan Spell At The Reds
Published: January 03, 2018With a statement on their official website, EFL Championship club Barnsley have confirmed that Nigerian striker Ike Ugbo has returned to his parent club Chelsea.
The prolific Chelsea youth-team striker had penned a season-long deal that would have seen him remain at Oakwell until June 30, 2018 but the Premier League champions have recalled him for obvious reasons.
Ugbo was named in Barnsley's starting line-up for Championship matches only seven times from a possible twenty six.
The 19-year-old netted his maiden professional goal in The Reds 3-0 rout of Sunderland back in August.
He is among five players of Nigerian descent loaned out by Chelsea in the summer of 2017, the others being Kenneth Omeruo, Ola Aina, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham.
Ugbo joined Chelsea as an U10 and represents England's U20 national team.
