Nigerian Midfielder Dubbed The New Yaya Toure Tipped To Make The Grade At Man City
Published: December 21, 2017English-born Nigerian midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru has been tipped to make it to the top in his football career, after making his professional debut for Manchester City in their win over Leicester City in the League Cup.
The 18-year-old has not looked back since he was promoted to City's U18 squad on a permanent basis last season, and has featured prominently for the Development Squad this term.
The midfielder has been involved in all the matches played by the U23s in the Premier League 2 apart from the 3-0 loss to Everton, when he was an unused substitute, and Tuesday's game at Chelsea which clashed with his debut for the first team.
According to The Sun, Dele-Bashiru's performance against Leicester City has pushed him closer to a first-team place in future.
''Joined City at six and moved to the Under-18s from the Under-16s last summer, although his career stalled when his father called the club’s handling of his contract talks “disgusting”,'' Phil Thomas wrote.
''A powerhouse midfield man who is being compared to Yaya Toure.''
Tosin Adarabioyo, Lukas Nmecha, Felix Nmecha, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Nathanael Ogbeta and Ashinme Kigbu are the other talented players of Nigerian descent on the books of Manchester City.
