Ex-Flying Eagle Sani Tahir Warns : Iceland Not Tall For Nothing, Dangerous In Dead-Ball Situations
Published: December 08, 2017Former Nigeria U20 international Sani Tahir has been contacted to give the lowdown on the Icelandic team, having spent the whole of his professional career with Nordic clubs based in Denmark, Faroe Islands and Finland.
With an average height of 185cm, Iceland are the third tallest national team at the World Cup, and Tahir believes they will be dangerous in dead-ball situations.
''The way Iceland play is different from ours, they play simple football possession when they have the ball and compact when they don't have the ball,'' said Sani Tahir to allnigeriasoccer.com.
''We have to be very careful with their set-pieces because that's the area they are very good.
''Meanwhile, we also have a lot of quality players and I believe if our players give one hundred percent we will top that group.''
Nigeria will face off with Iceland for the first time in a competitive match at the Volgograd Arena, Volgograd on June 22, 2018.
