UYL: Uwakwe, Adekanye, Eyoma, 13 Players Of Nigeria Descent Through To Next Round
Published: December 06, 2017At least sixteen players of Nigerian descent are in line to feature for their respective European clubs in the next round of the UEFA Youth League following the conclusion of the group stage on Wednesday, December 6.
For the first time since the inception of the competition, five English clubs Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are through to the knockout round.
Two-time champions Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Spurs finished first in their groups and have confirmed their places in the round of 16 while United face a playoff ahead of the round of 16.
Ibadan-born winger Bobby Adekanye has been Nigeria's most outstanding performer so far in the Youth League after scoring 3 goals and providing an assist in six appearances for Liverpool.
And not far behind is Noah Okafor, who tallied two goals and created four assists for Group A winners FC Basel.
