Super Eagles Coach Rohr: Drawing Germany Would Be Nice
Published: December 01, 2017Speaking ahead of the 2018 World Cup draw, Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr is relishing the prospect of a potential meeting with world champions Germany in the group stage of the tournament.
The Germans are one of the top-seeded teams in the draw while Nigeria are in pot 4, which contains the lowest ranked countries that have qualified for the World Cup based on October's Fifa ranking.
''Drawing Germany would be very nice but for my mother it would be difficult - because she is for Germany!" 🇩🇪👵👍,'' the Nigeria Football Federation quoted Rohr as saying via Twitter.
Apart from the maiden edition of the World Cup in 1930 and the 1950 edition they were barred from competing, Germany have participated in all the World Cup finals, while the Super Eagles would be making their sixth appearance in Russia.
Former Bayern Munich defender Gernot Rohr was born in Mannheim, West Germany 64 years ago.
Nigeria lost 1-0 to Germany in a pre-World Cup friendly in 1998.
