Ten Countries Nigeria Can't Face At Russia 2018 Group Stage, Eagles In Pot 4
Published: November 16, 2017All the thirty two countries that will participate in next summer's football festival became known after Peru became the last team to qualify for the World Cup courtesy of their 2-0 win over New Zealand in the second leg of their playoff on Thursday morning.
The 32 teams will be split into four pots based on their Fifa ranking in the month of October 2017, but Russia as the host country will automatically be seeded in Group A.
The Super Eagles are in pot four along with Serbia, Australia, Japan, Morocco, Panama, Korea and Saudi Arabia, and can't face any of these nations in the group stage.
Nigeria will draw one team from each of the following pots :
Pot 1 : Russia, Germany, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, Belgium, Poland, France
Pot 2 : Spain, Peru, Switzerland, England, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay, Croatia
Pot 3 : Denmark, Iceland, Costa Rica, Sweden, Tunisia, Egypt, Senegal, Iran
However, it should be noted the Super Eagles cannot draw Tunisia, Egypt and Senegal in pot three because the teams are from the same Confederation, CAF.
The draw will be held on 1 December 2017 at the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow.
