New Manchester City Number 72 Dele-Bashiru Debuts In Checkatrade Trophy
Published: August 16, 2017Promising Nigerian midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru made his debut for Manchester City in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.
The England youth international, who is hoping to play for the Super Eagles in future, was named in the starting lineup in Manchester City's penalty shootout win over Rotherham United.
Dele-Bashiru wasn't the only player of Nigerian descent on parade at AESSEAL New York Stadium in South Yorkshire, with the Nigerian-born striker Joshua Kayode entering into the fray for the home team in the 84th minute.
David Ball scored to give the Millers the lead in the 64th minute, before Benjamin Garre sent the game to penalties with a last minute equalizer.
Manchester United are permitted to field players under the age of 21 in the Checkatrade Trophy.
