Goalscoring Defender Opara Wins MLS Goal Of The Week, Scores Fourth Goal In June
Sporting Kansas City defender Ike Opara has won Major League Soccer's Goal of the Week award for week seventeen of the 2017 season.

The 28-year-old's 35th minute bicycle kick goal against LA Galaxy was voted the most eye-catching goal scored by a player in the American top-flight in the last round of matches.

Opara garnered more than half of the votes (52 percent), and saw off competition from David Accam (Chicago Fire),  Jack Harrison (New York City FC), Fafa Picault (Philadelphia Union ) and Patrick Nyarko (D.C. United ).

The former USA U23 international tallied his fourth goal in June as Sporting KC beat Houston Dynamo 2-0 in the US Open Cup on Wednesday.

Opara and his teammates trade tackles with Fanendo Adi's Portland Timbers in the MLS on Saturday.
