Spurs Pull Out Of Race To Sign Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal Linked English-Born Nigerian Midfielder
Published: June 22, 2017Tottenham Hotspur have pulled out of the race to sign Everton's English-born Nigerian midfielder Ross Barkley.
According to the Mirror, Spurs feel the England international has yet to maximize his potential since he broke into the first team of the Toffees six years ago, and he also plays in the same position as Dele Alli.
Barkley is no longer wanted by Everton manager Ronald Koeman after talks on a new contract stalled, and the club have moved quickly to sign Ajax Amsterdam star Davy Klaassen for £23.6million as his replacement.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are among the possible destinations for the 23-year-old if he departs Goodison Park this summer.
Ross Barkley has not featured for the England team since May 27, 2016, when he came off the bench in the 2-1 win over Australia in a friendly just before the European Championship.
