Liverpool Confirm Awoniyi's Return To Club, Three Players Of Nigerian Descent Retained
Published: June 09, 2017The Premier League on Friday confirmed the retained list of all the twenty teams that participated in the English top tier, including Liverpool.
NEC Nijmegen already announced that they won't keep ex-Flying Eagles star Taiwo Awoniyi in the Netherlands after they were demoted to the Eerste Divisie.
The striker and three players of Nigerian parentage in Bobby Adekanye, Sheyi Ojo and Ovie Ejaria will remain on the books of Liverpool next season, assuming they are not sold in the summer transfer window.
As previously reported, Taiwo Awoniyi does not qualify for a work permit in England and it is all but confirmed that he will be farmed out on loan for the third straight season in the summer.
Ibadan-born Adekanye has started to fulfill his potential and is in line to be promoted to the U23 squad next term.
Ejaria and Ojo will be pushing to join the first team after impressing at the 2017 Fifa U20 World Cup.
