Wolfsburg's Osimhen Can Still Become First Player Born After 1998 World Cup To Represent Eagles
Published: May 30, 2017Wolfsburg teenage sensation Victor Osimhen is on his way to Paris to link up with the Nigerian national team at their training camp, according to the Nigeria Football Federation.
The 18-year-old would have joined the team before now, but Wolfsburg were involved in the promotion/relegation playoffs after finishing 16th on the 18-team Bundesliga table in the regular season.
The Super Eagles have concluded their training session today, meaning Osimhen can only train once with the team before the international friendly with Togo, assuming he shows up in camp today.
The former Golden Eaglets sensation had been invited to the Super Eagles for the friendly with Senegal in London, but eventually pulled out of the squad due to injury.
If the attacker makes his international bow against Togo, he will become the first player born after the 1998 World Cup to have represented the three-time African champions.
Osimhen logged forty five minutes in total in his first season as a professional, coming off the bench in games against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Hamburg and Eintracht Braunschweig.
