Moses Takes Walk Of Shame As Arsenal Defy The Odds To Beat Chelsea In FA Cup
Published: May 27, 2017Arsenal defied the odds to beat Premier League champions Chelsea 2-1 and won the Emirates FA Cup at the National Stadium in England on Saturday evening.
The Gunners got the start that they wanted, with Alexis Sanchez scoring in the fourth minute. Ramsey was in an offside position but did not interfere with play and the referee pointed to the center circle after a chat with his assistant.
It could have been 2-0 after 15 minutes, only for Cahill to make a vital block near the goal-line after Ozil lifted his strike over Courtois, and the Blues were saved again by a hair's breadth after Welbeck's header came off the post.
On 39 minutes, Chelsea had a big chance to equalize but Pedro blazed the ball over the bar.
Moses forced goalkeeper Ospina to make a good save five minutes after the restart, before a cynical challenge on Welbeck by the Nigeria international earned him a booking in the 57th minute.
Antonio Conte's side were still open defensively, Hector Bellerin would have put Arsenal 2-0 up after 65 minutes when he tried to pass the ball into the far corner but the keeper saved his shot.
On 68 minutes, Chelsea were down to ten men after Moses, who seemed to be off the pace for most part of the game, received his second yellow card for simulation.
He had to be booked again after taking a dive inside the 18-yard box.
With 13 minutes remaining, Diego Costa leveled up the game with a deflected close range finish but Chelsea were behind again a minute later when Ramsey, totally unmarked, headed the ball home after he was teed up by Olivier Giroud.
Ozil would have added more gloss to the scoreline in the 87th minute but the German missed a huge chance as his shot hit the post.
Alex Iwobi was one of the four Arsenal substitutes not utilized by manager Arsene Wenger, while Ola Aina didn't make Chelsea's match day squad.
