Promising Nigerian Youngster Could Make Manchester United Debut Against Crystal Palace
Published: May 18, 2017Promising Nigerian defender Matthew Olosunde may eventually make his Manchester United first-team debut against Crystal Palace on the final day of the 2016-17 season on Sunday, May 21.
The United States youth international had been on the brink of playing his first competitive game for the Red Devils when he traveled to London for Premier League matches against Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, but didn't make the match day squad.
With the Europa League final against Ajax Amsterdam on the horizon, Jose Mourinho is likely to rest a number of first-team regulars due to fears they may pick up injuries.
''Joel Pereira, Matthew Olosunde and Matty Willock could also feature in the final league game of the season while Josh Harrop did his chances no harm with a hat-trick against Spurs,'' Ciaran Kelly of Manchester Evening News wrote.
A homegrown core has always been at the heart of Mourinho's teams - and that will not change when Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick et al eventually leave.''
Mourinho ran the rule over Olosunde and other reserve team players when they faced off against Tottenham Hotspur in Premier League 2 on Monday.
