Chelsea Linked Striker Onyekuru Topping The Goalscoring Charts After 20th League Goal
Published: May 18, 2017The in-demand striker Henry Onyekuru took his tally for the season to 20 goals in the Belgian First Division A after finding the net in Eupen's 2-0 win over Mouscron-Péruwelz on Wednesday night.
If Cup games are included in the mix, the 19-year-old has now scored 22 goals for his modest Belgian club in all competitions.
Ten minutes into the second half at Stadion am Kehrweg, Onyekuru thought he had doubled his team's advantage, but referee Lardot waved the goal offside. He was not denied when he struck again in the 72nd minute.
In the race for the top scorer award in the Belgian top flight, the Nigerian is now level on goals with Anderlecht striker Lukasz Teodorczyk, and both will have to wait until the last round of the season this weekend to discover the winner of the accolade.
Onyekuru has been monitored by Premier League clubs not limited to Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton, Southampton and West Ham in recent months.
